The Luminometer used in food production was migrated from Android to Linux, creating an opportunity to modernize the device’s UX/UI and align it with the updated Clean‑Trace web application.
Working on a compressed timeline during COVID lockdowns, I conducted internal stakeholder interviews and leveraged existing research to quickly identify user pain points and prioritize design improvements. The result was a streamlined, consistent interface that improved usability for frontline operators while maintaining alignment with the broader Clean‑Trace ecosystem.
Users begin at the application's AWS Management Console homepage to launch their first instance.
Once created, the instance details page allows administrators to manage the instance properties, view current status and health, add or remove users, and create and assign tags. Tags can be created for location, teams, or organizations, for example, to help categorize and filter.
I began with a visual audit in Miro to understand the current user flow and map every screen. This initial review identified inconsistencies in layout, labeling, and interaction patterns, highlighted redundant steps, and revealed opportunities to streamline navigation. The audit provided a clear baseline for prioritizing design improvements, aligning stakeholder expectations, and informing next steps for prototyping.
